About Black Dog Hunting

Healing Veterans Through the Outdoors!

Black Dog Hunting is a 501c3 Veterans nonprofit charity whose mission is to connect Veterans with the outdoors while providing mentoring and counseling with other like-minded Veterans.

Through industry partnerships and generous public contribution, Black Dog Hunting connects, organizes, and executes hunting and fishing excursions with fellow Veterans throughout the country.

Sir Winston Churchill made famous the metaphor of the “Black Dog” referring to his own battle with depression or simply ill mood, but this image of “the black dog sitting on his lap” goes back centuries before Churchill. The black dog is used as a metaphor for depression and mental health in that the dog can be controlled, managed, and treated.

Black Dog Hunting brings together Veterans from across the country who struggle with their own “Black Dog” and provides an environment where they can feel the freedom to express and seek help.
